Art Works (AW) and Burnsville Visual Arts Society (BVAS) announce a great new partnership to provide even more opportunities for our local artists and our shared communities. “With a year like 2020 challenging all sectors of the economy, mergers can offer smarter solutions for efficient use of valuable resources,” said Jerri Neddermeyer, AW Director of Operations. “We just keep our eyes focused on offering opportunities for artists to do what they do best.”
Legally merged in January of 2021, AW and BVAS will fall under the entity of Art Works to take advantage of the governance structure provided by a strategic Board of Directors as well as a dedicated facility for the creative community. BVAS brings to the merger a long lasting arrangement with the Ames Center for an annual exhibit as well as a robust roster of accomplished artists and other strong community relationships. The joint organization will be stronger with community relevance across the south metro. “At the end of the day, we are looking for ways to unite artists and grow opportunities,” says BVAS President, Raquel Diaz Goutierez.
In 2021, Art Works’ Member/Supporter Show will combine with BVAS Art Fête. The exhibition will show May 2-July 16 at Art Works (3795 Pilot Knob Rd, Eagan, MN 55122) with an opening event on May 2, 5:00-6:30 p.m. The exhibition will then show July 29-September 17 at the Ames Center (12600 Nicollet Avenue, Burnsville, MN 55337) with an opening event on August 5, 6:00-8:00 pm. We invite artists from both organizations to take advantage of the opportunity to be in two locations, with two opening receptions to reach two audiences. Artists can come to one place to take advantage of two opportunities to see and be seen! AW’s staff will install and transfer art for both exhibitions. Artists can get more information about this call for art and apply online at www.artworkseagan.org/events/gallery. Applications are due by April 2, 2021.
